Amprite Electric Company is a fully licensed electrical contractor based in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1961 by Paul and Eunice Pickney, we have proudly served commercial and industrial clients for over 60 years, grounded in a simple principle: meet every customer where they are and solve real problems with practical solutions.
From the beginning, Amprite has been a family business built on trust, craftsmanship, and community. Paul, a WWII veteran and skilled electrician, partnered with his wife Eunice, who managed the office, books, and everything in between. Together they built a foundation rooted in the belief that the customer is always right.

From a husband-and-wife shop founded in 1961 to the third-generation team serving Middle Tennessee today, the standard has never changed: meet the customer where they are and solve real problems.
Our Story, Year by Year.
Post-War Beginnings
Paul Pickney, a WWII veteran, works as an electrician in southern Kentucky, living in a trailer with his wife Eunice. In the late 1950s, Eunice convinces Paul to return to their roots in Nashville, where he partners with Buddy Higdon to begin electrical contracting work.
Amprite Is Founded
Paul buys out his partner and forms Amprite Electric. Eunice runs the books and office while Paul builds customer relationships. Their motto: the customer is always right.
A Reputation, Then a Second Generation
Amprite builds a strong reputation across Nashville for quality work and responsive service. Paul and Eunice's son Mike joins full-time and, with his electrical engineering background, expands design-build services and industrial controls. Amprite becomes a regional contractor.
Tragic Loss
Mike Pickney and three senior team members (Robert Lorance, Gary Finney, and Ed Peach) perish in a plane crash at BNA-Nashville Airport en route to sign a national contract. Mike's wife Teresa steps in to lead the company while raising their five children, and the close-knit team keeps the business moving forward.
A New Chapter
Vaughn Pickney, Mike and Teresa's son, returns to Nashville and launches AE Electric Service, reviving Amprite's Service Department with a modern approach. By 2017 the company is performing larger construction work; its first ground-up project is a charter flight facility at the airport, beside the very runway where Mike and his colleagues took off in 2001.
Reunification
Amprite and AE Electric Service combine operations under the Amprite Electric name, officially ushering in the third generation of family leadership. Same family, same team, same phone numbers — one name. More about AE Electric Service and Amprite.
